Research & Innovation

In the period 2015 – 2019 research was executed by Jan-Kees van Dijk regarding the alignment of business competencies in Higher Education degrees and the requirements for employment in an international arena. The context of this study is a Dutch BBA-programme, its curriculum and the 14 competencies that are used by 14 Universities of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.

The aim of this research project was to compare the actual competencies in this curriculum with the desired competencies of business organisations, investigate why any gaps exist and explore how these gaps can be bridged. The main aim of the study was to answer the following question: how should the gap between offered competencies by HEIs and the competencies needed when working as a middle manager in a Dutch German business environment be managed?
